Boenicke W 5

On sale as ex-demo a beatiful pair of “little beasts”, the Boenicke Audio W 5

If big boxes equipped with big drivers deliver big sound, small ones make it smaller, aye? As it turns out, in a very curious case of W5 this doesn’t work. It’s a matter of minutes and such thinking is gone for good as those monitors deliver it enormously big soundstage wise.Boenicke Audio W5’s inconspicuousness is merely a facade, a mind trick master Yoda himself wouldn’t be ashamed of and on top of all things it surely serves as a manifestation of talented Sven’s black sense of humour. At this point I can only add that his Swiss Happiness in a Box can be an end-game speaker for yours truly.

Complete with standings and original boxes, in practical absolute mint, as new condisions, can be your final search for a formidable music journey at: 4200 €

Magnepan 1.7i

"Not just The Absolute Sound's Affordable Loudspeaker of the Year, the 1.7 is the affordable loudspeaker of the decade" The Absolute Sound magazine, January, 2011

"This is a genuine Hall of Famer, and an easy pick for TAS 2021 Budget Product of the Year."

In Issue 107, JV (Jonathan Valin - the absolute sound) selected Magnepan's tall, skinny, three-way, full range, quasi-ribbon, dipole MG 1.7 floorstander as one of his favorite loudspeakers of the last 70 years. High in resolution, low in distortion, with enough bass and treble (of superlatively high quality) to satisfy anyone save a headbanger, and a midrange that reproduces well-recorded voices and acoustic instruments with jaw-dropping realism, it is one of those "sweet-spot" wonders that pops up every decade or two. The 1.7 gave you a generous taste of everything its bigger and more expensive Maggie brothers were capable of for a fraction of what you'd pay for the same wonderment in a top-line dynamic speaker. In his review of Maggie's latest version of this classic, the 1.7i, long time TAS reviewer John Nork (who purchased the review pair) was in complete agreement.

After a 12-year history, reaching a near-iconic standing, the Magneplanar 1.6 has been improved with value engineering. No costly tweaks of questionable sonic value. Magnepan is all about better ideas which give verifiable, high-value sonic improvements. All members of a listening panel chose the 1.7 or the 1.6 in a blind listening test.

The 1.7i is a departure from Magnepan's 41-year history of using planar magnetic drivers for the bass or lower midrange. The use of quasi ribbon technology down into the lower midrange and bass will provide a new level of coherence.

What is a quasi-ribbon? The quasi ribbon driver is a deviation from the true ribbon design. A very thin film backing is used to hold the delicate ribbons in place. One of the advantages of quasi ribbon drivers is extremely wide frequency band width and high power handling. The result in the 1.7 is low distortion and seamless ribbon clarity--a sound so clear and effortless that it has changed the thinking of thousands of audiophiles about planar speakers.

The 1.7 also boasts a quasi ribbon super tweeter with a wider "sweet spot," and one step closer to the delicacy and detail of Magnepan's true ribbon design.

The 1.7 was subjected to "blind testing" by a panel of audiophiles and casual listeners. In addition to better sound, there is one more important improvement that you can test for yourself. If you have the opportunity to hear the 1.7s at your local dealer, try this experiment---Ask the dealer to place the speakers with the tweeters on the outside. Note how the imaging remains remarkably stable when seated far off-axis. With some speakers it is necessary to sit in the "sweet spot" for good imaging. If you are too far out of the sweet spot, you will hear predominately one speaker. With the tweeters on the outside, the 1.7 has the widest sweet spot of any of any previous Maggies. If you prefer to sit only in the "sweet spot", try the tweeters on the inside.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to bring home this legendary pair of speakers.

The Magnepan’s 1.7i in our showroom are practically new, in black finish, with few hundreds operation hours. You can aspect further improvements in the sound as the Magnepan’s usual burn inn process can take obout 500 hours to full disclosure of the enourmus potential.

  • WAP (Waversa Audio Processor)

The latest stroke of genius from Waversa Systems in Korea. Anyone who hasn't heard it will hardly believe it: the elegant all-in-one device weighs less than two kilograms and is only 300 x 220 x 20mm small, and yet the Waversa Wslim LITE delivers a large and deep soundstage with impressive precision . The Roon is ready and supports Spotify Connect, AirPlay, WNDR, DLNA and Bluetooth ® including aptX ® . It has two USB ports and one coaxial and one optical digital input. There is even an FM radio on board. Thanks to the external power pack, the signal circuit is well protected from any interference.

    Fully digital signal processing

The Waversa Wslim LITE is an all digital receiver with a PPBTL amplifier (see next section). Anyone who winces at the thought of “digital amplifiers” should read on with particular care. The technically not quite correct expression for a classic Class D amplifier - related to the Wslim LITE - is intended to make it clear that its signal processing before the actual Class D amplifier is completely digital. The analog signals from the FM tuner are also digitized with high resolution (24-bit/384kHz). An FPGA-based (Field Programmable Gate Array, a programmable digital building block) chip developed by WaversaSystems called the WAP (Waversa Audio Processor) then converts the digital signals (including a whole host of other mathematical operations) directly into PWM format to - instead of like almost all other amps that generate PWM from the analog signal.

    PPBTL Amplifier (Para-Para-Bridge-Tied Load)

Waversa amplifiers have an exceptionally low output impedance. They are optimized for an extremely stable power delivery even in low loads, as only this guarantees the best sound quality in all conditions. Depending on the power supply used, extremely high, stable performance is possible. This special configuration means that the nominal power ratings in higher loads (4 and 8 ohms) are quite moderate on paper - but the traditional power rating in 4 or 8 ohms is becoming obsolete due to Waversa's innovative output stage. The user can (in future models) select the power output via the menu and thus achieve the optimal sound performance for the loudspeakers used. In reality, however, the stability in all loads means maximum control and guarantees extremely powerful and distortion-free playback in almost all conditions.

The output stage of the Wslim LITE consists of a parallel structure of eight alternating normal- and inverse-phase output amplifier modules per channel. In this way, the amplification factor in each of the individual output amplifiers can be reduced, whereby conventional sound-influencing artefacts (“hard”, less sensitive sound in bridge mode) resulting from a (too) high amplification factor can be reduced many times over. In addition, the output impedance is very low.

    WAP (Waversa Audio Processor)

Waversa understands that digital music largely ignores harmonics due to the limitation of its resolution compared to real music. WAP and WAP/X come to the rescue: WAP is an FPGA-based audio processor and interprets the digital signal to approximate it to an analog signal – real music. WAP/X as an extension for WAP then reconstructs the even harmonics of real music (up to the 32nd harmonic) that were lost during digital recording or digitization. Digital music also sounds movingly real, spatially diversified and natural.

    WNDR (Waversa Network Direct Rendering)

A big problem with streaming networks that use DLNA is that the standard doesn't actually take continuous audio streaming into account at all. DLNA is just a packet-based data transmission standard that enables multitasking Ethernet switches to work seamlessly and with consistent accuracy. With this transmission method, (white) noise is generated during the packet buffering process, which has a very negative effect on the sound of audio signals. WNDR is a proprietary and dedicated audio transmission protocol developed by Waversa to solve this problem. It minimizes latencies (delays) in the communication of the devices connected in the network and ensures excellent noise immunity. In addition, with WNDR, no conversion process between protocols is required, effectively eliminating another source of error, thus improving sound quality. And last but not least, devices connected to each other via WNDR can use their WAP processors (see above) even better because they are coordinated with one another.

This exeptional digital solution can easily satisfy your main audiophile setup, it can be used in a second system or in a 2.0 solution in a home entertainment environment
